Supervisory Attorney and Staff-Attorney Positions Application Procedures

To be considered for one or more positions with the Office of the Attorney General, submit one application package, together with salary history and requirements,

CURRENT LAW SCHOOL STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES

We cannot actively consider you for an attorney position until you have passed the DC Bar or the Bar of another state and you are waiver eligible.

Application Package

  • A resume
  • A cover letter, specifying the position(s) for which you wish to considered, the Vacancy Announcement number, and your qualifications and skill for the position(s).
  • A list of three or more professional references (include current phone numbers)
  • A certificate of good standing and/or proof of eligibility to waive into the DC Bar (original copy with seal)
  • A transcript from your law school, if you have been practicing less than 5 years
  • A legal writing sample
  • All applicants must have a completed Background Check Release Form.
  • A completed and signed DC 2000 employment application form

(Please note that you need not complete this application until later in the process and prior to hire)

  • A Completed EEO form (optional)

OR

  • Proof of Waiver Eligibility++

++You are eligible to waive into the DC Bar if you:

  • are a graduate of an accredited Law School, and
  • are a member in Good Standing of a State Bar > 5 years

OR

  • are a graduate of an accredited Law School, and
  • are a member in Good Standing of a State Bar < 5 years, and
  • received a scaled MBE score of at least 133, and
  • received a scaled MPRE score of at least 75; provide copy of scores with application

NOTE: Should you wish to receive acknowledgement of your application, we suggest that you send your package certified mail. We receive many applications and cannot respond to questions regarding the receipt of an application.
