Ethical Standards for DC Government Workers

District government employees must maintain high standards of honesty, integrity, and impartiality. The District government ethics rules are designed to guide and regulate employees to achieve these ethical standards and to add to the overall appearance of integrity, promote government efficiency, and maintain the public’s trust and confidence.

The following Frequently Asked Questions cover the basics on ethics rules. If you have any questions, contact your agency ethics counselor. (All agencies are required to have an ethics counselor.) You may also contact the DC Ethics Counselor, Thorn Pozen, at (202) 727-3400 or thorn.pozen@dc.gov.
