Notice of Non-Profit Healthcare Entity Conversion

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia (“OAG”) provides this public notice of a non-profit healthcare entity conversion under D.C. Code § 44-601 et seq.:    

The District of Columbia’s State Health Planning and Development Agency (”SHPDA”) has requested that OAG review the Certificate of Need (“CON”) application of Brinton Woods Senior Living IV, LLC and Brinton Woods of Washington, D.C., LLC (“Brinton Woods”) to acquire the assets and operations of Carolyn Boone Lewis Health Center Inc. (“CBL”), a District of Columbia non-profit corporation that operates a long-term care facility at 1380 Southern Avenue SE, Washington DC 20032.  SHPDA requests that OAG, in accordance with D.C. Code § 44-601 et. seq., advise SHPDA whether CBL’s charitable assets are adequately protected in the proposed transaction.
     
Any person may request a public hearing on SHPDA’s request by identifying the substance of their anticipated testimony, in writing, to Catherine Jackson, Assistant Attorney General, at 441 4th St. NW, Suite 600-S, Washington DC 20001 or catherine.jackson@dc.gov by October 18, 2014.  Any person may submit comments regarding the proposed transaction to Ms. Jackson by November 5, 2014.
