OAG investigates and prosecutes fraud-related offenses that undermine the public trust, including fraud against the District, tax and welfare fraud, public corruption, and financial exploitation of elderly and vulnerable adults. OAG also seeks recovery from companies and individuals who defraud the District, resulting in the loss of public funds. In addition, our office works to ensure charitable funds are not wasted and that nonprofits’ directors, officers, and trustees act in their nonprofit’s best interests.
If you suspect an individual or company is submitting false claims or committing fraud against the District, report it by emailing ReportFraud@dc.gov.
If you suspect a nonprofit or nonprofit officer doing business in DC is violating District law, report it by emailing nonprofit@dc.gov.
