Attorney General Racine Taps Veteran Child Advocate Erin Cullen to Lead OAG Family Services Division

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that he has named veteran child advocate and long-time Office of the Attorney General (OAG) employee Erin Cullen as permanent Deputy Attorney General for the Family Services Division. In this role, Ms. Cullen will supervise several sections of child-protection attorneys working to protect abused and neglected children in the District and promote better outcomes for youth and families.

“One of this office’s core priorities is to protect the District’s most vulnerable children,” Attorney General Racine said. “They deserve an advocate who has the will to fight for their safety and well-being and the experience to get results. The District will greatly benefit from Erin’s extensive background in child-welfare work and passion for helping young people.”

Ms. Cullen has worked for more than 15 years at OAG as both an Assistant Attorney General and a Section Chief within the Family Services Division. Most recently, she served as the division’s Acting Deputy Attorney General. She is also an expert on the issue of sexually exploited children and serves on the Citywide Human Trafficking Task Force.

Prior to joining OAG, Ms. Cullen worked for several legal aid organizations that represent abused and neglected children. A Ward 1 resident, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola College and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law.
