AG Racine Leads 22-State Coalition Against Trump Effort Threatening Legal Status of Long-Time U.S. Residents

WASHINGTON, D. C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine led a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a friend-of-the-court brief seeking to stop the Trump administration’s attempt to strip longtime residents of their rights to live and work in the United States, making them subject to possible deportation. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced lawsuits against four Maryland parents for falsifying District residency to send their children to D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) for free. Additionally, AG Racine is suing a DCPS employee for conspiring with one of the parents to enroll her non-resident daughter in a DCPS school.

Standing Up for Asylum-Seekers: Opposing Trump’s “Turnback Policy”

Last week, AG Racine joined a coalition of 20 AGs in opposing The Trump administration’s new "Turnback Policy," which unlawfully denies individuals access to the asylum process at ports of entry and turns them away. The policy is contrary to the United States’ treaty obligations and federal law, which require immigration officials to promptly give asylum-seekers a fair chance to present their claims.

AG Racine And 21-State Coalition Sue To Block Trump Administration Gag Rule That Threatens Reproductive Healthcare

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine and his counterparts from 20 other states today sued the Trump administration to stop a federal gag rule that endangers family planning and other healthcare services for more than 58,000 low-income District residents. The suit seeks to stop a federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rule restricting Title X grants, which help patients access contraception, cancer screenings, exams, and other related health services.
