On June 1, 2022, the Department of Education announced that it would forgive the student loan debt for Corinthian College students from the school’s founding in 1995 to its shuttering in 2015. This cancellation applies to 560,000 student borrowers and will end $5.8 billion in debt.

This announcement follows years of action by AGs, including AG Racine to advocate for students against predatory for-profit colleges like Corinthian.

Eligible students will be contact by the Department of Education, and do not need to take any action until then to be granted debt relief.
