AG Racine Announces Senior Leadership Hires

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced the appointment of three individuals to senior leadership positions within the Office of the Attorney General (OAG). Each of the new hires is replacing an individual who retired or stepped down to pursue other opportunities. The appointments announced today are: Deputy Attorney General for the Public Safety Division, Deputy Attorney General for the Legal Counsel Division, and Director of the Office of Community Engagement. These individuals will support OAG’s law enforcement work; direct the legal advice OAG offers to District government agencies and officials; and aid OAG’s outreach and engagement efforts with District residents and community organizations.

“We are thrilled to have successfully recruited this talented and diverse group of professionals to OAG,” said AG Racine. “Their impressive experience, judgment, and passion for public service will enable our office to do even more to protect and assist District residents.”

The following hires to OAG’s leadership team were announced today:

Elizabeth A. Wieser is the new Deputy Attorney General in charge of OAG’s Public Safety Division. Previously, she headed that division’s Juvenile Section, leading a team of prosecutors who handle the District’s juvenile crime cases. Prior to joining OAG, Ms. Wieser’s career included stints as an attorney in private practice and as a clerk for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She holds bachelor’s and law degrees from Georgetown University.

Brian K. Flowers is the new Deputy Attorney General in charge of OAG’s Legal Counsel Division. He has nearly four decades of service to the District of Columbia, most recently as General Counsel to the District’s Board of Ethics and Government Accountability. Prior to that, Mr. Flowers served as General Counsel to Mayor Vincent C. Gray, and as General Counsel, Legislative Counsel and Deputy General Counsel to the D.C. Council. He has also served as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, pro bono attorney, Uniform Law Commissioner and Chair of the Open Government Advisory Group. Mr. Flowers holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a law degree from Georgetown University.

Lindsay Morton joins OAG as its Director of Community Engagement. She most recently served as Director of the Healthy Markets Program at Martha’s Table, which she developed through significant engagement and partnership with District community leaders and residents. Prior to her work at Martha’s Table, she led a community engagement strategy for Whole Foods Market in New Orleans. She has also worked for the National Football League Players Association and for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
