WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today congratulated three former attorneys from his office for becoming the first clerks for District of Columbia Court of Appeals Associate Judge Loren L. AliKhan. Following their clerkships for Judge AliKhan, all three will serve as law clerks on federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Before becoming an Associate Judge on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, Judge AliKhan served as Solicitor General for the District of Columbia for four years, where she worked alongside her new clerks, Matt Morris, Nina Oat, and Norah Rast. Judge AliKhan was confirmed by the Senate on February 8 to serve on the D.C. Court of Appeals and assumed office on February 18.
“Excellence attracts excellence. For over seven years, our office has been fortunate to attract talented, driven, and public service-oriented professionals who are committed to using the law to advance the District's interests and stand up for vulnerable residents," said AG Racine. "It isn’t surprising that talented members of our Office of Solicitor General team would join former Solicitor General, Judge Loren AliKhan, at the DC Court of Appeals. We wish Matt, Nina, and Norah well, and are grateful that their work for District residents will continue. Our Office of the Solicitor General is the most highly respected appellate division in our country. I’m confident our new Solicitor General Caroline Van Zile will continue to attract a diverse pool of our country's best lawyers to the Office of the Solicitor General. District of Columbia residents deserve the best.”
