Attorney General Racine Underscores Stakeholders’ Commitment to Ensuring Confidence in Forensic Analysis

Washington, DC – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today released the below statement regarding audits showing significant problems with DNA testing procedures and training at the District’s Consolidated Forensic Lab.

“Sound analysis of evidence is crucial to the proper administration of justice. The Office of the Attorney General stands with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Mayor, Councilmember McDuffie and other stakeholders in our commitment to ensuring the District’s Consolidated Forensic Lab operates at a level consistent with accepted scientific and forensic standards. We are conducting a thorough review of all the lab’s operations, and we are committed to an independent forensic lab whose operations are transparent so that all District residents can have confidence in its work.”
