Attorney General Racine’s Statement on President Trump’s Revised Ban on Travel from Muslim-Majority Countries

WASHINGTON, D. C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today issued the below statement on President Trump’s revised order banning travel and immigration into the United States from residents of certain Majority-Muslim nations. The revised executive order was announced earlier today:

“The concessions in President Trump’s revised executive order underscore what several of my counterparts across the country and I have argued all along: that significant portions of the previous order simply did not pass constitutional muster. Federal courts have repeatedly agreed with us.

Although the new executive order may remedy some of the faults of its predecessor, it is clear that this travel ban remains un-American and discriminatory in its intent. We are currently reviewing the new order’s legality, and if merited, we will not hesitate to take action again to defend the Constitution and American values.”
