Racineand 45 other state attorneys general today announced they have reached a $120 million settlement with Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary, DePuy, to resolve allegations that the companies made false claims about reliability in promoting two hip implant devices. While the companies claimed success rates near 100 percent for the ASR XL and Pinnacle Ultamet devices, the real rates were actually much lower.

Racine today announced that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has intervened in a lawsuit against a Maryland resident for fraudulently charging a local adult soccer league to rent D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) athletic fields and then pocketing the money. The suit alleges that, between 2009 and 2013, Larry Washington and two of his companies took more than $120,000 in rental payments from the Washington International Soccer League (WISL), failing to remit any of the money to DCPS.

Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced two separate lawsuits against Ali “Sam” Razjooyan and his related property entities and managers for (a) extreme housing code violations that pose serious health and safety threats to tenants at apartment complexes in Wards 7 and 8, (b) disregarding repeated orders to stop illegal construction work, and (c) defrauding DC’s rapid re-housing program by falsely certifying that properties are safe, habitable and code-compliant in order to collect government subsidized rents.
