The Tenant Receivership Act

The Tenant Receivership Act (TRA) is a District law that allows the Attorney General to ask a judge to appoint a “Receiver” to address chronic health and safety issues at a rental property. A receiver is a neutral third party who takes control of the property, makes all decisions about its management and operation, and ensures necessary repairs are made.

Attorney General Irvin B. Nathan announced today.

D.C. Superior Court Judge Maurice A. Ross on August 12 awarded the District the full treble damages it sought.

Racine today announced lawsuits against six Maryland parents—including three current or former District government employees—for falsifying District residency to send their children to District schools for free. In three separate lawsuits, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleges that these non-residents broke District law by sending their children to District schools without paying required non-resident tuition.

AG Racine Sues Personal Care Aides for D.C. Medicaid Billing Fraud

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has filed lawsuits against three personal care aides alleging that they cheated the District’s Medicaid program out of more than $85,000 by filing false timesheets. In the complaints, OAG alleges the aides illegally billed Medicaid for patient services they never performed. The lawsuits seek more than $350,000 in damages and penalties as well as costs for the District in pursuing the case.
