AG Schwalb Requires up to $500,000 in Unpaid Overtime Wages to Be Paid to Georgetown University Employees

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that Georgetown University (Georgetown) will pay up to $550,000 to resolve allegations that it required staff working in research settings to work unpaid overtime, in violation of District law. Under the agreement, Georgetown will establish a fund through which workers can claim the wages they are legally owed and, going forward, will pay the appropriate overtime to all non-exempt employees.

This type of data has also been used by academics, researchers, social scientists, and others who evaluate and assess crime, criminal justice, and other social factors.

What Is On The Data Portal

The Prosecution Data Portal provides information on adult cases reviewed and prosecuted by OAG.

Criminal cases come to OAG initially from law enforcement agencies. If a law enforcement officer suspects a person has committed a crime for which OAG has prosecutorial authority, that officer presents either an arrest or arrest warrant to OAG.

Attorney General Schwalb Announces Liberty Tax Will Pay $750,000 For Deceiving Thousands of District Residents in "Cash in a Flash" Tax-Prep Scam

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that the nation’s third largest tax preparation company, Liberty Tax, will pay $550,000 to more than 7,300 DC residents who were misled and overcharged for tax preparation services. As part of a settlement resolving the consumer protection lawsuit that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) filed against it, Liberty Tax must also pay $200,000 to the District and permanently end the deceptive marketing and pricing tactics it used across the US.
