WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) today launched a Human Trafficking Initiative to bolster its efforts to fight the global problem of human trafficking and its devastating effects on young people here in the District. Attorney General Karl A. Racine announced the launch in conjunction with a training session for students at Dunbar High School conducted by i-SAFE, a non-profit organization that combats trafficking through a curriculum used in more than 3,400 school districts across the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Attorney General Karl A. Racine today released the following statement regarding President Trump’s decision to direct federal law enforcement and military police to attack peaceful protestors demonstrating against police brutality outside of the White House last night:

Washington, DC (June 12, 2017) – District of Columbia Attorney General Karl A. Racine and Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh announced today that they have filed a federal lawsuit against President Donald Trump, alleging that the President’s wide-ranging business entanglements violate the Constitution’s Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses. The suit seeks an injunction to put a stop to the president’s constitutional violations.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine has introduced legislation to temporarily prevent the major credit-rating bureaus from charging to freeze a consumer’s credit. Currently, under District law, the credit reporting agencies can charge consumers for a credit freeze unless consumers have been the victims of identity theft.

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that three companies operating in the District - Fetch Package, Inc. (Fetch), Potomac Foods Company, and Food Works Group, LLC (Food Works) - will pay over $150,000 to affected workers and $77,000 to the District in penalties to resolve allegations of violations of the District’s worker protection laws that deprived District workers of overtime pay, timely final paychecks, and benefits including paid sick leave and paid family leave.
