WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today filed a lawsuit against the NRA Foundation and the National Rifle Association (NRA) for misusing charitable funds to support wasteful spending by the NRA and its executives. In its lawsuit, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleges that the NRA Foundation violated District laws by allowing charitable funds to be used for noncharitable purposes, failing to operate independently, and placing the NRA’s interests ahead of its own charitable purposes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today filed suit against the Public Media Lab (PML), and Manifold Productions, Inc. (Manifold), for using millions of dollars in nonprofit funds to enrich Michael Pack, the founder of Manifold and Chief Executive Officer for PML. In its lawsuit, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) alleges that for over 12 years, PML, a District nonprofit corporation, funneled nearly all its funds to Manifold, a for-profit film production company.

Racine today announced a new lawsuit against Velsicol, a major chemical manufacturer, for violating District environmental laws by contaminating local waterways and natural resources with toxic, cancer-causing chemicals for decades, harming the health and safety of low-income Black and brown District residents.

Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced a settlement requiring the owners of Foster House, an apartment building located in the Shaw neighborhood at 801 Rhode Island Avenue, NW with 76 subsidized, affordable housing units, to pay at least $1.65 million to harmed tenants and the District and to ensure that that level of affordable housing is preserved at the site for no less than 30 years.
