WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced his office has filed three new lawsuits against neglectful owners and managers of a Ward 5 apartment complex and two Ward 8 commercial properties for endangering the health and safety of District residents.

Racine and 10 other state attorneys general have filed suit against the Trump Administration for suspending the 2015 Clean Water Rule, a federal regulation designed to ensure that lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands are properly protected under the federal Clean Water Act.

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today introduced the Recidivism Reduction, Oversight, and Accountability for DYRS ACT – the “ROAD Act” – to hold the Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services (DYRS) accountable for better public safety outcomes in the juvenile justice system and ensure that young people committed to DYRS are less likely to commit additional offenses once released.

Racine today announced a new lawsuit against Shipt, a gig company that offers shopping and delivery services, for denying full-time workers basic employment rights by deploying an increasingly prevalent misclassification scheme through which employers cheat employees out of hard-earned wages and benefits, deny safety protections, avoid legal obligations to pay into public programs, and shift routine business costs onto workers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that he called on the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to finalize federal regulations which would make clear that ghost guns are firearms under federal law and help address the epidemic of gun violence. Such action would help improve public safety by closing a loophole that has enabled the proliferation of “ghost guns” – weapons sold without background checks or serial numbers.
