WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that Rodgers Brothers Custodial Services, Inc. and its president, George Rodgers, Jr., have been ordered to pay $100,000 for repeatedly discharging pollutants—including petroleum and sediment—into DC waterways at its Ward 5 trash transfer and recycling facility. The Court found Rodgers Brothers responsible for five illegal pollution discharges and held the company’s president individually responsible for two of the discharges, ordering him to pay half of the penalty amount.

Racine issued the following statement in response to today’s filing by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting dismissal of the District of Columbia and Maryland’s lawsuit against President Trump. The DOJ motion is the President’s first official legal response to the suit, which Attorney General Racine and Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh filed in June, accusing the President of violating the Constitution’s two Emoluments Clauses.

Racine has joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a multistate lawsuit to block the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) illegal rollback of net neutrality. The coalition filed a petition for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, commencing the lawsuit against the FCC and the federal government.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine and his counterparts from 20 other states today sued the Trump administration to stop a federal gag rule that endangers family planning and other healthcare services for more than 58,000 low-income District residents. The suit seeks to stop a federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rule restricting Title X grants, which help patients access contraception, cancer screenings, exams, and other related health services.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for failing to protect the Chesapeake Bay and local waters, including the Potomac River. The states allege that the EPA has failed to uphold the terms of a multistate agreement to reduce pollution levels in the Chesapeake Bay.
