Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today testified before the DC Council Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety, chaired by the Honorable Brooke Pinto, for the Office of the Attorney General’s annual performance oversight hearing.

(AltaGas) to resolve AltaGas’ breach of its 2018 merger agreement with Washington Gas (WGL) that required AltaGas to develop 10 megawatts of solar energy to help offset WGL’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Schwalb today announced that Kenmore Pest Control & Termite Services LLC (Kenmore) will pay $137,000 in penalties and environmental clean-up costs to resolve allegations that it repeatedly and illegally applied pesticides, endangering District residents and damaging DC’s natural resources.

Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that Rodgers Brothers Custodial Services, Inc. and its president, George Rodgers, Jr., have been ordered to pay $100,000 for repeatedly discharging pollutants—including petroleum and sediment—into DC waterways at its Ward 5 trash transfer and recycling facility. The Court found Rodgers Brothers responsible for five illegal pollution discharges and held the company’s president individually responsible for two of the discharges, ordering him to pay half of the penalty amount.

Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today released a 2023 Impact Report detailing how over the past year, The Office of the Attorney General has delivered for District residents, securing $610 million in total savings and benefits – over four times its annual budget.
