It has been a little over two years since I took office as the District’s first elected Attorney General, and in that time, my colleagues and I have taken seriously the charge to act in the public interest. We have prioritized data-driven public safety and juvenile justice reform, consumer protection efforts that assist the District’s most vulnerable residents, legal actions to protect affordable housing, measures to advance democracy and safeguard public integrity, and much more.
To demonstrate how these efforts have moved the District forward, our office has published “In the Public Interest: Attorney General’s Midterm Report.” It is my hope that you will take a look at this report and get a glimpse at just some of the good work that our office has done for you over the last two years.
I am extremely proud of what our office has accomplished so far, and I know that we are prepared for the important work still ahead of us. I am eager to continue my work on behalf of all District residents by ensuring public integrity, protecting consumers, and making sure that the District is a safe and welcoming city for all. My promise to you is that I will continue to work as hard as I can to defend and promote the public interest while continuing to grow our office into a first-class public law firm. I hope you’ll join us in that work.
- Attorney General Karl A. Racine
