OAG Human Trafficking Initiatives

Did you know experts estimate that 199,000 incidents of sexual exploitation of minors occur each year in the United States? That’s one trafficking crime every three minutes. The District of Columbia is not immune to this horrific problem, which is why the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has established a Human Trafficking Initiative to combat this serious crime.

As part of this initiative, our staff members visit local schools to educate youth about trafficking, and we train community leaders to educate youth as well. OAG also has a task force that participates in monthly case-review meetings on sex trafficking with other District agencies that serve youth in the juvenile-justice and child-protection systems to ensure that victims receive appropriate services and supports.

On April 26, 2017, the DCPS Office of Youth Engagement agreed to place our posters related to Human Trafficking into all DCPS schools (115) in the city.
